So in this week's installation of Verena von Pfetten's column at HuffPo detailing her descent into spiritualism she takes a Belief-o-Matic quiz. As ridiculous as this sounds, I've just taken it and I think the questions are just brilliant. They really help me explain so many of my beliefs which I always imagine as so unconventional (but are apparently common enough that they are an option in such a quiz). I'm so tired of constantly yapping on about Judeo-Christian values and the three major religions,and all of that ethnocentrism that pervades the typical discussion of religion in the West. There is a whole world out there full of other interesting and beautiful religions, lets learn something new about them for a change...

Interesting...
I'm not sure we should be taking quizzes to find out what religion we are. Isn't that the wrong way round? Shouldn't we base our convictions on the God we believe in, not choose which god most fits with our current lifestyle? After all, if we believe in God, then we are prepared to change our convictions according to his ides. If we don't, and we choose a religion that fits us and assume that our way is the best way, then actually we're just worshipping ourselves, surely?
