it's been way too long

a white flag to pluralism
I have decided that I have nothing to be ashamed of, socially. I am always warm and friendly to partners in class assignments, people who sit next to me, and even random strangers on some occasions. I should not feel socially inferior because I don't have an arbitrary number of friends. I figure, I have some stuff going for me, and when the opportunity presents itself, I am always interested in meeting new people and making new friends. But I am saying goodbye to belittling myself for not meeting a friend quota and attempting to force friendships that might not be there. People fall into friendships, they don't sweat for them. And that's what really grinds my gears.

im sad to say
i often see other people and am so jealous of their lives. i guess sometimes i forget what actually matters and just wish my life was more pretty and interesting. i know thats dumb.
i want an opportunity to really prove myself.
if you count the number of i's you will see how self-obsessed i really am! :-P

the point of it all
i think even though the process of losing weight has its extremely frustrating moments, its worthwhile when every once in a while you just feel better about yourself, even if you haven't necessarily lost weight, but just because you know you are living better. i think thats what its all about, feeling like you are giving yourself the best health, mind, attitude, etc.

good things come to those who wait
and so i am going to stop looking for romance and just do my own thing.
im gonna get free, im gonna get free, ride into the sun
its not that i think material possessions equal a good life, its that i think with enough nice looking things, you can convince people of your worth.

Things to Do Before Going Back to School
--> Enjoy at least 2, if not 7, restaurants during restaurant week.
--> Compile recipes that use a toaster oven for in-dorm cooking.
--> Download CDs from Josh Rouse and Goldfrapp and update my mp3 player.
--> Organize all my files from middle school, high school, and last semester.
--> Finish Imperial Ambitions and Feminism is for Everybody.
--> Finish buying textbooks.
--> Read at least 1/4 of one of my Zionism books to have an edge on my classmates.
--> Go through my clothes and put away 1/4-1/3 of them.
--> Visit Costco/Trader Joe's and stock up on water, teas, oatmeal, dried peas, soups, etc.
--> Visit Staples and stock up on quality notebooks, pens, and folders. That's right, I'm taking notes by hand!
I'm considering taking the money I've earned out of my bank account and leaving myself just a small amount so I'm not tempted to spend it recklessly during the semester. Good idea?

Spring Semester
I am finally really excited about this upcoming semester. I think it will be very nice to be taking classes I am excited about. Class-load is as follows:
FREN203: Intermediate Intensive French - - - I am going to speak this goddamn language, regardless of how hard it is, whether I like it or not!
HIST376: History of Zionism and the State of Israel - - - I need to do my homework before this class gets started so I will have something smart to say to the hoards of Jews/Zionists in this class.
JOUR175: Journalism and Media Literacy - - - Marjan Asi (and other reviewers) said this was their favorite class but was strict grading, so hopefully it will be worthwhile.
PLSC100: Introduction to Horticulture - - - Who knows? I might just find my green thumb!
WMST200: Introduction to Women's Studies - - - I just switched into this class. This will be good. Idris says only lesbians take this class. We'll see about that!
My earliest class is french (at 10am)...wahoo!!!
